Marissa Medina Saturday April 26, 2008 My topic for the research paper is the environmental racism. I will research specifically in United States New York, because that's where I live, so I'd like to know about my community. This topic is relatively new. It is a problem, although many people don't see it like that. Basically, I would write this paper for the African Americans and hispanics who live in poor areas. I think they should be aware of how garbage is in their area and no body does anything to clean it up. Also that would probably answer the question the Azma and other deceases are higher in their communities. I'm thinking this paper should be posted on line, because that's where most people go these days. It could also be good if someone announces this problem in a radio station. One of those community radios like w.b.i or on a internet radio. So far two of my sources are articles from ebsco. These articles discuss, how toxic waste and household waste is being thrown away in the Bronx, and how this garbage is not being taken care of. Both of these articles discuss that waste disposed improperly can cause many deceases. My third source is a book called "The face and the Environment" this book covers different aspect. However, the section I might use for my paper is the historical aspect of environmental racism in the United States. I'll discuss why that term is used and why people refer to it negatively through out the years. Another article I'll use is a google article. This article is very important, because it covers the aspect of the beneficial part. Who benefits from uncollected waste for instance. In conclusion, my paper I'll try to cover different aspect. However, I want to be very specific in terms of area. I want to find out how and why environmental racism is still precent in this country.
